Signs and Symptoms That May Require Menopause Treatment
Many people say they're going through menopause when what they're really experiencing between the ages of 35 and 50 is peri-menopause. This is the time when things begin to happen. The hormone estrogen, which was once vital to the reproductive cycle, starts to be minimally produced as you get older. This usually results in vaginal pain, dryness and an irregular menstrual cycle as women start to go through the "change," and may begin to look for menopause treatment.
At first the changes may be minimal but most irritating! Irregular periods might be your first sign as they come and go on a different schedule than before. This is caused by the lower estrogen in the body, which controls the monthly cycle. The pre-menopause stage will last for as many as ten years, but symptoms may change as you begin to get closer to full menopause.
Hot flashes and night sweats are two more very common but annoying early menopause symptoms. Usually you start to sweat uncontrollably when a hot flash comes on unexpectedly. But don't worry, the reason it's called a flash is because it goes away quickly. You will feel very warm, possibly really hot, start to sweat, and then it will subside in a few moments. Your body instantly goes into cool-down mode, which is why you start to sweat uncontrollably as your body attempts to reduce your temperature. This symptom can be so annoying that it immediately sends some women searching for menopause treatment.
Night sweats are the same as hot flashes. At night, sweating may go unnoticed and you will continue to sweat until you wake up. But by the time you wake up and take notice, you may be drenched in a cold sweat as your hot flash subsides, and the sweat cools. This is where the hot flash got the name cold sweat.
Mood swings can be dangerous to the family because your attitude could affect your spouse also.Mood swings are as common as PMS and you may begin to feel depressed, or experience a sense of pending doom. You may suffer from insomnia as you start to feel less confident and start to worry more about what's going on with your body.
Insomnia may cause further mood changes, which doesn't help at all! These things will pass in time, but you need to keep in control of them if you are to have your life back after you get through pre-menopause. You will just need to be constantly aware of your emotions during this time. Hormones (or decreasing amounts) can cause havoc with both your mind and body so be careful during this time.
Unfortunately, there are not just three menopause symptoms that you need to be aware of. There are about thirty more that may occur as time passes. Men and women should each be aware of these symptoms as the support of family cannot be undermined at this time.
